Several properties: how to add a second renovation and switch between them

Updated 26 October 2026 · based on: Doma app guide (“Several properties: add and switch”, “Property archive: remove, restore, delete”, “Talking to Master Kistya”, “Notifications and property history”), Home, “My properties” and “Archive” screens, plans (server/plans.ts), as of 26 October 2026

If you're running two renovations, add a second property: on Home - “New property” in the property bar on the left, or “Profile” → “My properties” → “New property”. A second property needs a login and a connection. You switch by tapping the property's icon on Home or with the “Open ›” button in “My properties”. Switching doesn't erase anything: each property has its own route, budget, documents, tasks and ideas board, and they all stay on the phone.

How to add a second property

  1. Log in to your account. Without a login, the app shows “A second property needs login”: properties live in your account, and after you log in, the new one will appear next to the old one. You log in with email, using a code from the letter; how to log in is in How to log in to the Doma app with email.
  2. Tap “New property” on Home or in “Profile” → “My properties”.
  3. In the “New property?” window, choose your role on this property. The role applies to this property only: on others it can be different. For example, on your own apartment you're the owner, and on a client's property - the designer.
  4. Tap “Add”. Then come the property type and the survey, like the first time. How to complete the survey is in Property and survey: how to create a property and set up your renovation route.

Adding a property needs a connection. Without one - “Adding a property needs a connection. Try again”.

How to switch

  • Home → the property bar on the left. Tapping an icon opens the property. The “Something new” mark shows where something changed while you were away. Hold the icon to get “Name and address” and “Move to archive”.
  • “Profile” → “My properties”. The full list, split into “Renovation” and “Lived in”. The open property is marked “open”, the others have “Open ›”.

Designers and contractors always see the property bar on Home, and owners see it when they have two or more properties.

If a property doesn't open - “It is not loaded on this device yet - you need a connection”. Connect to the internet and try again.

How not to mix them up

  • Give properties clear names. “Park Street apartment” and “Country house” are better than “My property” and “Property 2”. Hold the icon → “Name and address”.
  • Look at the header. Everything on the tabs - stages, budget, documents - belongs to the open property.
  • Master Kistya knows the open property in detail, and your other properties briefly: where things are overdue, reviews, approvals, and how much has been spent. Open the right property before asking.
  • Notifications come for all properties, but the push notification itself has no property names - details are in the app. Each property has its own history.
  • Each property has its own ideas board: ideas for the country house won't get mixed up with ideas for the apartment.

How many properties a plan gives

A plan limits “own properties” - those where you're the payer and that aren't in your archive:

  • “Free” - 1;
  • “Home Archive” - 1, after the renovation, for storage;
  • “Team” - 5;
  • “Team PRO” - 10.

A property takes a slot only for its payer - the member with the best plan on the property, and with equal plans, the owner. So a property you were invited to usually doesn't take your slot. Archived properties don't take a slot either. How many are taken is shown in the profile: “Own properties” - for example, “1 of 1”. More in Plans and their limits: what “Free”, “Team” and “Team PRO” give you.

If you created a property before logging in

It can happen like this: a property is filled in on the phone without a login, and the account already has another one. On the Free plan, after you log in, the app asks: “The Free plan includes one own property. Which one should stay active?”. Choose “Keep active” on the one you need - the other goes to the archive in your profile, and everything in it is kept. If you close the window, the property from your account stays active.

Finished one renovation

When a renovation is finished, the property is moved to lived in: “Profile” → “My properties” → “Renovation done - move to lived in”. The stages stay as the renovation history, while documents, the property passport, warranties, receipts and tasks stay at hand. A handed-over property is moved to the archive in the same place: “Handed over - move to archive”. In the archive, the property is view only and doesn't take a slot - that frees up room for the next renovation.

You can also add a past renovation for the record straight away: “Profile” → “Archive” → “+ Add”. Fill in the survey, photos and documents and send the property to the archive. Until it's archived, it counts among your own properties.

What to do if

  • There's no “New property” button on Home. An owner with one property has no property bar: add a second one via “Profile” → “My properties”.
  • A new property won't be added because of the plan. Your plan's own properties are used up: send a finished property to the archive or choose a plan with more properties.
  • A property disappeared: “No access to the property”. The owner removed you from the property or finished the renovation without leaving the materials to the team. The app opens another of your properties or a new one.

Checklist

  • You're logged in.
  • Each property has a clear name and address.
  • The role is chosen for each property separately.
  • Before working, you checked which property is open.
  • A finished property is moved to lived in or to the archive.
