Archiving and deleting a property: how to hand over a renovation, remove a property and restore it

Updated 13 October 2026 · based on: Doma app screens and the in-app guide, as of 13 October 2026

The archive is your personal list of properties you've removed from the property bar. To remove a property, press and hold its icon in the bar on the home screen and choose “Move to archive”: it leaves the bar only for you and stays with the other members. A property in the archive is view only.

Three different actions

  • Renovation done, move to lived in. The property stays with you, the stages become the renovation history, and documents, the property passport, warranties, receipts and tasks stay at hand.
  • To the archive. The property leaves the bar. You can't change stages, take photos or write in it; it doesn't take up a slot on your plan, but the space its files use still counts.
  • Delete permanently. The property is erased. For the owner, it's deleted for all members along with the photos, budget and documents; for everyone else, it means leaving the property.

How to finish a renovation

  1. “Profile” → “My properties”.
  2. Tap “Renovation done - move to lived in” and confirm with “Move”. The owner does this; on a property without an owner, whoever runs it.
  3. When the property is handed over, tap “Handed over - move to archive” in the same place: it goes to the profile archive and disappears from the bar.

The move needs a connection and happens on the server right away. Once the property is moved to lived in, stages can't be marked or changed.

Materials after the renovation

If the property has a team, the owner decides what happens to the team's access: “Let the team keep it” means the designer and contractor keep the property in their archive, view only; “Don't allow” closes their access. The decision is made before the first invitation or when the property is handed over, and it can be changed in “Property members” (“Materials after renovation”) for as long as the renovation is in progress.

How to archive a property and bring it back

  1. On the home screen, press and hold the property icon in the bar and choose “Move to archive”. For an owner, the bar of icons appears once there are two properties; if there's only one, it goes to the archive after being moved to lived in, see above.
  2. To bring it back: “Profile” → “Archive” → press and hold the property → “Restore”.

You can restore a property if your plan allows one more of your own properties: the free plan allows one, so before restoring you'll have to archive another.

How to delete a property permanently

  1. “Profile” → “Archive” → press and hold the property.
  2. Tap “Delete permanently” and confirm.

The property, its stages, photos, budget and documents are deleted for all members and can't be recovered: that's what happens when the owner does it (on a property without an owner, the designer who runs it). Other members who do this simply leave the property: it disappears from their lists and their phone, but stays with the owner and the others.

What to do if

  • The property disappeared from the bar. Check “Profile” → “Archive”: it may have been archived.
  • A property in the archive won't open. You need a connection: the archived property may not have been downloaded to the device yet.
  • It won't restore: “The ... plan allows 1 property of your own”. Archive another property or choose a plan with more properties; more in plans and limits.
  • You want to delete your account, not a property. That's a different action: how to log out and delete your account.
  • You need to keep the documents before deleting. Export the property passport and the budget to Excel: a deleted property can't be brought back.
