How to remove a member from a property and what stays
To remove a contractor from a property, open “Profile” → “Property members”, press and hold their name, choose “Remove from property” and confirm with “Remove”. They lose access to the property straight away, while their check-offs, photos and comments stay in the history. The owner and the designer can remove members; nobody can remove the owner. Before you do it, make sure the contractor's stage is accepted, everything they checked off has reached the server, and the documents for their work are in the app.
Who can remove whom
- The owner - any member.
- The designer - anyone except the owner and another designer: contractors, foremen, former inspectors and viewers.
- Contractors and foremen - nobody.
- The owner can't be removed by anyone.
If the “Property members” screen says “Long-press a member to report or block them” under the list, without the word “remove”, your role on this property doesn't have the right to remove members.
How to remove a member
- “Profile” → “Property members”.
- In the “On the property” list, press and hold the person.
- Choose “Remove from property”.
- The app asks “Remove member?” and reminds you that they will lose access to the property. Tap “Remove”.
You need a connection: the server removes the member. Offline, the app will ask you to try again.
What stays and what doesn't
What stays is everything the person did on the property: item check-offs, photos, comments, accepted stages. Who did what and when is shown in “Property history”: the bell on Home → “Property history”. Photos of an item sent for review or accepted can't be deleted - they are proof of the work.
What doesn't stay is access: the person no longer sees the property, can't check off items or post notes.
Before you remove someone: checklist
The work is accepted
Check that the contractor's stage is accepted: you or the designer tapped “Accept work”, and the remarks are closed. A removed contractor can no longer mark fixes in the app.
Everything has reached the server
The app works offline: check-offs and photos are saved on the contractor's phone and reach the server once there's a connection. If the contractor worked in a basement or on a site without internet, some photos may still be on their phone. Ask them to open the app somewhere with a connection and wait for the photos to upload. Check that you can see the photos. More in Working offline: what's saved.
The documents are collected
Certificates, the warranty on the work, equipment manuals, the panel diagram - let all of it be in the “Documents” tab while the contractor is still reachable. What's important to keep is in Hidden work: which photos and records to keep.
Payment is settled
The last payment comes after acceptance. How to pay by stage is in Paying a renovation crew by stage.
The property's plan: check who pays
The property's plan is the best plan among its members. “Property members” shows which plan it is and who pays for it: “Property plan: “...””, “you pay” or “... pays”.
If you remove the person who pays, the property keeps the best plan among the remaining members. For example, if the designer paid for “Team PRO” and the owner is on “Free”, once the designer leaves, new feed notes and item comments can't be posted, and a new member can only be invited if they have a paid plan. Everything written and uploaded earlier stays. More in My plan has ended: what happens to my property.
Removing a member also helps with places: the number of members on a property is limited by the plan, and a contractor who has left frees a place for the next one.
Not removing, but keeping them until the end
You don't have to remove a contractor right after their stage. If they might be needed - for a warranty repair, a question about a line in the wall - they can stay on the property.
Pay attention to the “Materials after renovation” decision in “Property members”. If the owner chose “Let the team keep it”, after the renovation ends the designer and contractor keep the property in their archive, view only. If the owner chose “Don't allow”, their access closes when the renovation ends. A removed member loses access straight away, regardless of this decision. More in Archiving and deleting a property.
If you need to invite them again
A removed person can be invited again with a new code: “Profile” → “Property members” → “Invite” → a role → “Create code” → “Share code”. The code is single-use and valid for a week. More in Members and roles on a property.
If a member behaves inappropriately
Removing isn't the only option:
- “Report” - the same long-press on the member. Reports are reviewed within a day: if the rules are broken, the post is removed for all members, and on repeat - the author is removed from the property too.
- “Block” - this person's notes and comments are hidden only for you, and you get no notifications about them. Everyone else still sees everything. To unblock - the “Blocked” button at the very bottom of the “Property members” screen.
If the contractor leaves on their own
A contractor can leave a property themselves. First - to the archive: on Home, hold the property icon and choose “Move to archive”. Then “Profile” → “Archive” → long-press the property → “Delete permanently”. For a member who isn't the owner, this means leaving the property: for everyone else the property stays with all its stages and photos.
In short
- The contractor's stage is accepted, the remarks are closed.
- Their photos have reached the server and you can see them.
- The documents for the work are in the “Documents” tab.
- Payment is settled.
- You've checked whether they pay for the property's plan.
- “Profile” → “Property members” → long-press → “Remove from property” → “Remove”.
